Which terminal?

This is the most important thing to get right at Heathrow. Drop-off at the wrong terminal means a lengthy transit. Always confirm your terminal from your airline's booking confirmation.

T3

Terminal 3 — International

Oneworld (non-BA) + independents

T5

Terminal 5 — British Airways

British Airways + Iberia

T4 and T5 have separate road approaches from T2/T3. We need your terminal to route correctly. If you're unsure, give us your airline and flight number — we'll check.

The M25 is the biggest variable. Anti-clockwise (J15 to J13 for T4) and clockwise from M1 junction can both be slow. We always check live traffic and may take the M1 via M25 anti-clockwise depending on conditions. Allow generous time — a 4am departure from Harrogate for a 9am flight is typical.

Frequently asked questions

How many terminals does Heathrow have?
Heathrow operates four terminals: T2 (Star Alliance), T3 (International/oneworld non-BA), T4 (specific carriers), and T5 (British Airways exclusively). Terminal 1 closed permanently in 2015 — ignore any references to it.
Which airlines use which terminal at Heathrow?
T2: Star Alliance (United, Lufthansa, Swiss, Singapore, Air Canada). T3: American, Emirates, Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific. T4: Malaysia Airlines, Korean Air, Saudi Arabian, Kuwait. T5: All British Airways flights and most Iberia. Always verify with your airline's booking confirmation.
Is Terminal 1 open at Heathrow?
No. Heathrow Terminal 1 closed permanently in June 2015. It is now demolished. The active terminals are T2, T3, T4, and T5.
How do I get between terminals at Heathrow?
T2 and T3 are in the central terminal area and connected by a free inter-terminal transit. T4 and T5 are separate — you take the Heathrow Express (paid, fast) or the free Heathrow Connect shuttle between terminals. Allow at least 45–60 minutes for inter-terminal connections.
Where does the taxi pick up at Heathrow arrivals?
Each terminal has its own pickup zone on the arrivals forecourt. Your driver will meet you with a name board in the arrivals hall. For T4 and T5, which are away from the central area, the pickup forecourt is directly outside the arrivals exit — your driver will give exact instructions when you book.
How far is Harrogate from London Heathrow?
Approximately 200 miles via the M1/A1(M). Journey time is 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours in normal conditions. The M25 (J13–J15) and M1 can add 30–60 minutes in peak hours.
How much is a taxi from Harrogate to Heathrow?
Fixed price: £350 from Harrogate to any Heathrow terminal — T2, T3, T4, or T5. One price, no meter, no surge. Fixed at the time of booking.
How early should I leave Harrogate for a Heathrow flight?
Allow 3h30–4h travel time plus 2.5–3 hours for check-in and security (Heathrow security queues are longer than regional airports). For an 8am departure, a midnight or 1am pickup from Harrogate is typical. We'll advise the exact time when you book.
Is Heathrow Express worth it from London for Harrogate passengers?
Not really. Heathrow Express runs to London Paddington (15 min, £25+), but Paddington is the wrong side of London for Harrogate. You'd then need to cross London to King's Cross for the LNER to Harrogate — which takes 2+ hours and costs more than it saves. A direct taxi is simpler for most LHR journeys to Harrogate.
