Betty's, the Turkish Baths, Valley Gardens, Knaresborough, Fountains Abbey — this is the honest guide to Harrogate's best attractions. Every listing includes a taxi fare so you know exactly what it costs to get there.
Harrogate's most iconic institution. Founded in 1919, Betty's is famous for its Fat Rascal scones, Swiss-influenced afternoon teas, and the queue that forms every weekend morning. Book ahead for afternoon tea or join the walk-in queue early — it moves quickly. There's also a bakery entrance for takeaway. If you only do one thing in Harrogate, this is it.
Local tip: The queue starts early at weekends. Arrive before 9am for breakfast or after 3pm when lunchtime rush drops off.

The sulphur water is still available to taste, if you dare.
